Hospice event features golf tournament, barbeque

Saturday, May 18th, 2013

Riverwood Healthcare Center and Riverwood Foundation invite you to participate in its Holes fore Hospice charity event golf tournament and dinner. This annual fundraising event, which features a new twist this year, will be held Sun., July 14, at Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge in Deerwood.

The scramble golf tournament begins at 11:00 a.m. and features contests to qualify for deluxe prizes. The cost for golf and dinner is $125, which includes 18 holes with a cart, lunch on the course provided by Paulbeck’s County Market and dinner.

Instead of a formal dinner, enjoy an outdoor barbeque with a pig roast and other delicious picnic food favorites. The barbeque begins with a social hour at 3:30 p.m., featuring live music and appetizers, followed by the meal served at 5:30 p.m. The cost for the barbeque meal only is $50 a person.

As usual, the event will feature live and silent auctions, games of chance and awards for the golfers. Emily and Michael Thiel from Minneapolis will speak about their experience with hospice last year when they lost their 5-month-old son, Henryk. The funds raised will support local hospice care.

“This is a great opportunity to participate in a fun wellness activity as well as contribute to a wonderful cause that touches lives in a very meaningful way,” says Kim Jones, event planner. “If you’re a golfer, get your team together now. If you don’t golf, just come for the great food, live music and fun.”
